Okay. So to decide if it works or not, should I drive the car with it? Or if it starts will it basically be okay? Spoze I'll take it for a spin to make sure it works as normal like. I don't use the standard renault key to open & lock the doors, I got a cobra alarm. So I can lock & unlock the doors with the cobra as usual? Or have to do it with the renault key?

you should be able to see if the ECU works or not when u start the car.
if it works the idle should be at around 1000rpm.
if it does not work it either wont start and the ECU light will remain flashing or it will fire up and the idle will be way over 1000 rpm

as for plipping it to reset the ECU, has the cobra replaced the standard renault sensor in the roof mounted unit?

if not i would do both.

use the cobra to lock/unlock the doors and then the renault plip to do the same.

I'm not sure how the cobra was installed really. If the car is locked and I plip the doors with the Renault key, when I open the door then the alarm will go off. Whereas if I plip the doors with the cobra, it obviously dissarms the alarm so I can open the doors without it goin off. But yeah I'll try both to be on the safe side.

Have just bought that ECU, so I'll let u know when I've got it and tried it out.

I am now running one of Mick's chips permanently.

There was a minor idle issue when i ran it for the first time but that cleared up after a good drive.

Definite noticeable difference between 2500 and 5000 revs (about).
Yet to test top speed.

This is probably a silly question (I know what ur thinking - "a silly question? From Si? Surely not!") lol. But yeah, was wondering if you have to disconnect the battery if you're gonna change ECUs? I have THE world's most complicated stereo that takes me 17 weeks to setup, and the thought of loosing all of it's settings basically gives me nightmares. I am guessing that I'm gonna have to disconnect the battery and deal with that though.

Infact, yes. That was a stupid question wasn't it Rolling Eyes
