He seems to think it's far from standard. The guy just doesn't learn and I think Chris should dish out some more pain! |

Ah leave him be. If he manages to sell it on the pretence of being 200bhp, fair play to him. |

I managed to find the copy of redline that the car was in. Turns out it could be 200bhp. It was when the car was featured (estimate, but a conservative one)
If i get some time later I may post the article =-) |

well i messaged him when he told me its extremly quick and for me to have a go, but then i said, that if i step from a 172 into a meggy it'll seem sluggish and handle shockingly badly. heres his reply

Like the way he always starts off his answers with "haha". Probably what a lot of people think when they hear him bang on about the car! He'd just been out and timed it at 4.8 seconds to 60 lol. 90% downward gradient was it? With a 78 tonne weight infront towing it?
Nearly as bad as one of my female friends who reckons she'd timed her fiat cinquecento sporting at 9 seconds to 60, when the book time is meant to be 13.8 everywhere I've seen it. I was like "fuckin well done, shaving 4.8 seconds off the book time.......you wanna get onto the guiness book of records.......or become a fiat test driver or something" |

I asked him if he had the rolling road print and if not was he willing to get one to prove his claim. this is his answer:
Quote: |
No I'm not, i only know the cars been rolling road tuned and superchipped as i was told when it was on here previously that it was used to test products, ie which combination of products gives the best bhp. the person who told me this said he knew this as the car was in Redline Magazine May 2001, he also gave me its performance figures, the only one of which i have tested is the 0-60, as this is correct to what he told me i assume the others to be correct. the products i have listed i can prove are fitted to the car however there are many others such as lightened flywheel, strengthened lightened and balanced crank, full rebuilt and blue printed engine that i have not listed as i cannot prove them. i have driven a 150bhp megane 2.0i 16v and it is very slow compared to mine so i think 200bhp is correct. i leave for sweden early september and dont really have the time to worry about the sale of this car anymore so will probably let it go to the person that offers the most. thank you. |
