Timing would be technically possible but is politically incorrect. If you pay cash there is no record, OK maybe a photo but how do they link the timing to the photo to prove that its the car. Plastic? Was it the car owner or drivers card? You have to be stopped at the tollbooth, or be photographed for proof. With 20 or so booths and normaly a lot of traffic its not so easy to stop cars without causing backups.

They could get your photo from a fixed radar. Or you could be shot from mobile radar, but you will be stopped by a patrol or at the motorway tollbooth area, as normally they need a photo for proof and the mobile units are not equipped with cameras.. They do have some unmarked patrol cars with cameras in the boot but you will see a small square window for the flash. Anyway if you get photographed you will see a flash.

It can be very expensive if you are caught, depending how much you are over the limit. Foreign plates will have to pay cash or have the car seized if caught and stopped. If you get back to Britain it may follow through now with every one being European an all.

Vive le France.

Well, the way I see they could time you is by looking at the time the ticket was issued as you entered the autoroute and then when you get to the toll booth
