I have replaced the airbox on mine and it still does this.
Chris, would a new speedo cable benefit mine?

if yours is buggered yes it would.
its the speed sensor bit that affects the revs you see,the electric plug at the instrument panel end |

I did re-earth it behind the instrument panel quite a while ago.
Worth changing it anyway I suppose, if it doesn't work at least I know it's not that, if it does, problem solved!
Any idea how much a new one is? |

yeah the new one is 75 quid from renault .make sure thats the problem first before paying the sum to renault .
alternatively have a look if the pin connector from the cable is connected properly to the loom .
i am assuming your speedometer works by the way ?????? |

Yeah the speedo works fine, so I might re-earth it again. Could have disturbed the earthing point during the numerous times the instrument panel has been out.
I'll check the connector as well.
