Just got the stuff today Si
The chip might have had it tho it'd come out of it's bubble wrap and the pins are all bent to buggery. Some of 'em were poking outta the jiffy bag and had bent round, kinda like a giant staple, so I couldn't get the chip outta the bag for a while! But yeah I'll have a look when I get home, if I'm careful it should be okay |

Well I've managed to bend the pins back so they're all pretty much straight. Straight enough to plug into the socket anyway.....
I dunno which way up the chip is meant to go though! I'm guessing it's the way I've got it in the pic below?
Does it actually make any difference? Surely it does, but just wondering like |

yes makes the world of a difference lol
ok its in the right way round, so good guess but so you can be sure, look at the edge of the chip, u will see a little half circle on it
that goes the same way as the little half circle printed on the circuit board. |

Um, maybe it isn't meant to be that way round.
Cuz the car won't start with it in

Oh, well I dunno then!
Turn the key, fires up as normal and then it's as if it has 0% capability of idling and just dies. It's as if I turn the key to start it, and the minute the revs drop from the initial start back down to 900, I just turn the key off

Yeah, plipped 'em. Didn't get any ECU error lights or anything, fuel pump primed as normal.........everything normal.
Just won't start |

whack your old ECU back in Si, looks like that chip dont wanna work.
its weird, even thou neals and mine run the exact same type of ECU, it ran fine in my car but neals just did not wanna start.
it could be something to do with the way Mick programs them, dunno, could be due to variances on the immobliser as its built into the ECU on the ph2's but i do know his newer ones have had lots more success due to his new programming process.
At least you have both chips for free Si so you aint lost nothing. |
