Had to laugh at the Ford Asbo (TG), I was wondering how he came up with this name, then it suddenly twigged that it is an ancronym!
If we look back at a hot hatch in the early 90s and take the 205 GTI as an example, it pushed out something like 140 hp?. Compare that to today when you need around 200 hp to qualify.
I even got beat off the lights (MR2, top end of second) by what looked like a boy racer Astra, but what turned out to be a 2.0 turbo...
Times have changed.
On a different topic, on Fifth Gear a couple of weeks ago, they tested super unleaded vs ordinary unleaded. For each case they reset the ECU before using the super unleaded.
Now, if I understand this correctly, the ECU takes a finite about of time to 'learn' about the the driving style etc. in order to set itself up.
How long is this time, and would it have made much difference if they had either tested the cars during this time or raked them for a while first? |

The ECU resets to whatever the factory put in, its then pulled back from there if theres an issue. |

That test track is near me, I went to a ford open day there when I was wee, with my uncle and cousin as he had a sierra sapphire as a company car there, and wer were taken out on the skid pan and round the track in a cossie good laugh that |
