get an engine instead of rebuilding it. 50 quid shoudl cover a new un if you look hard enough.

Nah, ive had enough trouble with second hand engines.And i want the satisfaction of building my own!

The crank from my ph1 has gone blue on one of the journels! so im unsure about what to do with it.

dont use it.

only use it if you get it re-tempered etc. lots of cash though

Nope, thats where the big end bearings had been compressed when the pistons hit the valves when the belt broke!

there was an oil problem dan as thats not the damage you get in that situation if the oil supply is healthy.

I ahev seen the cranks perfect after the engines spun round out of time at 80mph and holed the pistons!

Why did the belt break anyway?

It had done 144k on the original belt! i bought it with a snapped belt.

I acnt see any signs of blockages and all the other journels are fine.

After i rebuilt the head it was always trying to stall on you, it was a fast engine, but always stalled, and the oil pressure was fine.

well it done well dan on the original belt you have got to give it that!

I mind tow starting some that would drive like rockets but wouldn;t start/crank themselves over!

yea we tried tow starting it, but it just made the clutch slip and fryed the fly in the process.

So Ph2 crank, and oil pump and 1 conrod is what im using out of the other engine,everything else is ph1

get the rods close, they don't have to be exact as they can be sorted.

make sure they are true though

on strip down as soon as i cracked off no.4 big end, i was able to turn it by hand/
