Insurance is indeed a funny thing spesh when the quotes you get are more expensive than the car itself, even brand new cars!
Jeremy Clarkon is well known for having bought a brand new Escort Cosworth (about 25k at the time) and having to pay almost double that to have the thing insured!!
I can well understand why insurance for a £500 car may be more than the car itself, most ppl who buy a £500 car wont care about it getting a few knocks here and there or even crashing it so are a higher risk to insure.
I think insurance companies should offer other types of insurance for ppl who do care about thier cars, like us for example, we are hardly going to go shove our 19s, R5s, clios etc into the nearest BMW for the hell of it after we have spent so much time, effort and money getting them into a half decent condition, no matter what age we are, there should be some kind of policy to cater for that kind of driver. |

well, how would the insurance company know if you really care for your car or not?????
also, insurance is always cheaper for women.. is the legal driving age 17 over there or???
i'm paying around 700£ for my 19 16V.. only have had my own car(s) for 2,5 years.. this is denmark, though, were cars are much more expensive than in the uk.. |

Well one way of letting the insurance companies know that you care for your car and look after it is by joining an owners club, a lot of owners clubs have preferred insurers and said insurers will give discounts to those members of the club thanks to cross promotion.
For example i think RSC have some sort of deal with Adrian Flux insurers.
As it goes there are a lot of things i think insurance companies could do to lower insurance costs but maybe another thread for that as this is tizzys thread and we seem to have hijacked it |
