yeah i know that
but my cone filter is not connected to the cold air feed .its fitted as on red19rt s pics. even if it was connected ,due to the filter being a cone would pick the hot air from the surroundings ,would not it .?
thats why i am going to put the i.k in that little space behind the fog and feed and take the extension from the i.k to the throtle . so the air passing the i.k will be always cold regardless of engine heat.if you know what i mean? |

yes I know its not connected but its blowing onto it isn't it? Same as mine. I can also tell you my engine bay gets hotter than yours.
Longer pipe will affect throttle response as well. |

so whats the way to get over this when you want cold air with a cone filter at all times ? youwere saying something about sealing ,whats that then? |

you mean cover the cone bit ? with what though ?
would not that reduce the amount of air going in to the throttle ? |

A bucket is a good thing, use piping at the front, there you go a Viper kit but 200 quid cheaper.
Seal it in a box, use old door seals etc to seal it against the closed bonnet.
Its all effort though which is why i still haven't done it. Then again I really need to sort out the rear engine mount again as its sawing away at the steerrign rack, watch me run to sort that.. |

so what about taking the original crap filter off the airbox and stickin the i.k inside the box ,it will be well sealed and the feed will be from the original intake housing. would that work ? |

yes and it would be exactly the same as the standard box and air filter. |

the best way seems to be cutting the bonnet ,sticking the i.k out of it with a little umbrella on top . |

The rover boys take out their headlight when theyre at pod.
Ive seen skylines and things with sort of 'dummy' headlights (body coloured venturi type thing made to perfectly fit the headlight aperture) |

I once had the headlight out and the chopped of top bit of a road cone for a funnel. That was before I knew more about aerodynamics and airflow characteristics. |

after about 700 miles testing I find that it's a bit lumpy and around 1500-2500rpm when lifting off or accelerating gently, most noticable in traffic or in town, great in other rev ranges or across the range under hard acceleration. |

do you reckon thats something to do with the heat it sucks from the engine and radiator in low speeds ? well i do .
and i think the only solution is to seal it and feed it from the bumper |

might well be - need to sort the cooling and repositioning of the filter but can't be arsed at the moment.
Also might be getting a new project soon (not replacement for the SPI so none of your traitor remarks please ) - watch this space |

i would hardly say the std cold air feed is "blowing" cold air at the ik location...it goes into the bumper where cold air is located but not moving. airbox used to "suck" it from there, not have it blown at it from there...
i used a section of aluminium ducting, about 6" dia. fits over the ik totally and the end of it just points towards the headlight, away fro engine as best as possible...no point fuckin about too much, its only an ik at the end of the day |
