so why on N/A yb engines, they had special heads with smaller ports to boost torque, as the standard ports r too big. read about this in ccc a fw yrs ago now.

YB is the pinto based cosworth engine, as found in the sierra and escort cosworths. Its incorrect to say ford cosworth engine as there are many of those.
Also there are various varients of the YB lumps.
Jimbo i assume you are reffering to the westfield kit car thats running the NA cossie lump with the twin 48's or 50's? It was weird colours? Yeah that had its ports increased.
Also they don't have special heads, they have turbo heads there were no NA heads ever produced, well not by cosworth anyway. Most run larger Paul Ivey valves etc. |

there are a few NA cossie lumps around, they are ideal for NA use.
Large valves, steel crank, 9 bolt flywheel, oversquare etc.
Good engines despite being based on a tranist and american poo car engine.
the pug 1.9 MI16 is equally good, the later 2 litre MI16 is crap though. |

Pug 205 1.9 (GTi) Mi16 engined is a must! A friend of mine has got this lump and its damn fast. Scary actually since he has no fear to G-force... airforce academy grinds off him any fear.
This its a must! |

Up to 164bhp in the 405
Gti6 box is awful, 1.9 gti is the best compromise |

What size are inlet valves on the F7P?
Is there much point to fitting bigger valves?
N/A is my preferred route of tuning, hopefully with cames, headwork and perhaps twin webers |

Larger valves alloy more fuel in and more crap out, therefore more power. |
