maybe, maybe not, it might have more problems that the one youre selling. No way of knowing. You feel lucky? Just have to bite the bullet and be prepared to get stuck in if required. The joys of 10 a penny 10+ year old cars eh! |

how the hell can 'Lee' say that the knocking is coming from cylinders 1,2 & 3? That's some awesome sense of precise directional hearing he's got there... very impressive. |

also he reckons the reason y the car cuts out when hot is because of heat dispersing whatever that means, because when the car gets warm and the fans go on once the 2nd time at idle the engine would cut out and wen u go to turn it over its like the batterys dead |

Its a £250 car with 176,000 when the majority of valvers died long ago, what were you expecting?
You could pay £100 or £1000 for one, they are all going to go wrong on you unless your exceptionally lucky.
Use it, abuse it then brake it for bits or use it for spars for your next one. |

CTS is arrowed in this pic
white plug - unplug it, unbolt it, bolt new one in, connect plug
i'm sure there is a tech article on this and doing the cambelt, or check the tech questions forum as this has come up a lot of times if i remember right |

so that is your car up on the auction?
just wondering as your user name was "cliof7r"
i was giong to say what addie said, cant buy a car knowing it has had a fair bit of use, and expect it to run like a dream.
then give up on the first step.
bet you not even taken the cam cover off yet! lol |

so if 'lee' is saying that its knocking from 12 and 3 why have u said in the ebay auction that your "tech" has looked at it and hasnt a clue whats wrong with it?
bit misleading for whoever buys that car...ur moanin like fuck about it on here yet on ebay saying "the car itself is amazing!" "strong engine" |

as for the auction i dont care what lee says he aint a 19 enthusiast, ive told you what hes told me to see if any1 disagrees and you obviously do but the fact still remains he aint a 19 sopeicalist but you lot are so im obviously going to lisen to you lot and its tru the engine does pull really strongly just u hear a rattle in the engine bay |

If it struggles to spin the engine round on the starter, its one of two things:
Electrical fault or a knackered starter motor (or the starter jamming).
Easiest thing to check is all the grounds are there, that the battery terminals are secure, and with a multimeter check the battery voltage is what it should be (~12.5v without engine running and between 13-14v with the engine running). Id say as you were down that side of the engine to change the coolant sensor that you've more than likely disturbed something.

i just read the whole thread at once and i am very sorry that you had lots of problems with that car mate . but dont give up on a very rare sports car like that ,you might know you might not ,i also have a tungy grey chammy which i bought in march and still could not get on road yet . there are still too many things to sort out ,too much money and effort to be spent but i am waiting for my day that i can finally get on to the drivers seat of my chammy and go for a smooth drive . and that will just be priceless |
