Cheers for doing that for me Si Very Happy I should hopefully get it tomorrow then and I'll be goin out for a test spin the moment I get home from work! Shame me frikkin driveshafts or CV joints are fecked and vibrate like bastards under hard acceleration Sad so I'll have to get that sorted before I can test it properly Laughing hehe

The williams sticker was just one I had lying around and was an easy way of telling the chipped ECU apart from the not-chipped ECU when I had them both here together. Honestly. lol

Right, well just banged the chip in and she works like a legend. Been for a spin and it does seem like it wants to go a bit more than it used to, but like I said in my previous post, I ain't thrashing it yet cuz me driveshafts are about to fall off etc and & get horrible vibrations under acceleration. But yeah, once all that is sorted I will update you all again.

One thing I did notice tho. No change in the rev limiter. I don't even know if there's meant to be a change with this chip, but I'm sure I heard someone saying it ups it to 8,000rpm somewhere along the line. Well....um......it doesn't!

it is meant to rev up to 8000 rpm with the chip, is it hitting the limiter at 7200 rpm then Si ?

Aye she's hitting the limiter as normal. But how can it work (car starts & actually drives etc) and not work at the same time (doesn't rev as high as it's meant to etc)? Surely it wouldn't work at all if there was something up with the chip? Dunno really. When I was testing the spare ECU before I sent it to you, I checked if it revved right up to the limiter, and it did at the usual 7,200rpm. So.....um.....I dunno!

What do you reckon could be wrong then Si?

sounds like the chip didn't change the limiter at all.

I'd say ask Mick but it was a cheap hand me down.

Did it gave you some gains? If so then why worry?

I've already said I don't reall know cuz I haven't hammered the car yet to see. Cuz my front wheels will fall off if I do. The car has also just cut out on me while I was driving. Every time you press the clutch in and coast, the revs just drop to zero like a stone and the car cuts out. Nice! It also has a lot of trouble idling so I think something is wrong somewhere. It was fine idling lastnight though, and also pressing the clutch in & coasting was no problem. Just today it seems fucked. Maybe something else has gone wrong on me car & it's just coincidence. ICV or whatever. Who knows. Will try the old ECU in later and see if it's any better

yeah change back to your old ECU for the mo Si.

the chip i put into your ECU was the one i was running in my ECU and had it in there for a good few months with no problems but when Neal tried the ECU in his car, it did not like it either.

odd as his ECU was identical to mine as is yours.

i can send you another chip to try out Si, all u got to do is remove the cover and prise out the chip from the socket and slip the other in.

Are you sure si? That would be legend if I could have the other chip to try yeah. I can send you this one back then aswell. So what's the difference between the one I got now and the other one you got for me to try? Are they different versions of the same chip? Or is this other one not one of Mick's chips at all?

I'll go & swap back to me old ECU now for the time being anyway. Cheers Si

different versions of Mick's chips Si.

the one that is in your ECU worked fine in my car but mine is a fussy fucker, lol, the only other ECU that has worked ok in mine was Neal's standard one yet my standard one would not work in Neal's car . . go figure lol.

Hmm. Well would you mind posting me the other version of the chip you've got then? If it isn't spare & you need it, don't worry. But if you could spare it that'd be legend. I'll get your chip out of my ECU and slap it back in the post to ya then. See if I have any luck with the different chip then.

we seem to have the same sort of problem mate, the chamades engine is cutting out as well, only happens when i press the clutch to change gear ,the revs drop down to 400 and if you are not aware or quick enough to rev it back up the engine just dies as soon as it goes into gear and you release the clutch . mine idles almost perfect mind ,900-1000 rpm all the way .

now there cant be too many things that can affect the revs on a computer controlled car imo ,it feels like the ICV and i will swap mine soon

schakal you tend to find its not the electrical components that give the trouble its normally mechanically related.

It could be so many things which is th eproblem.

Get the wd40/water spray otu and squirt around the injectors/inlet manifold.

yea, mine used to do that, mainly roundabouts, so i'd have to bump start it whilst coming up to the roundabout, then go, but then the fecker seized!
