damn, I was hoping it wouldn't involve dropping the subframe. Is it pretty easy to drop one side of the subframe?
Someone on cliosport said something about removing the fifth cover - do you think he means the bit on the end of the gearbox? (just a guess but seems like the most likely thing)
Thanks. |

The subframe is pish easy to drop, just undo the bolts on one side, and it'll drop down, iom not sure on removing the end cap, ive never done it, so i cant commment on it.

kl, kl. Thanks for all your help mate - I think I'm probably just looking into it too much and should just give it a go and deal with any problems if they come up. I just need to find myself a decent socket set as the one I have just now is pretty shit.
Are there any special tools needed to do the job other than a standard tool set? |

there is a tool out there to align the clutch properly, but tbh not important. I recomment the Gear ratchet set, Partco have got a deal on them at the moment, a whole set(10mm-19mm with torx, and extension bars for 23.99, lifetime warrenty, brilliant set, ive used mine to undo wheel nuts lol, still working! |

any links to that mate? it sounds like the sort of thing I'm after.
Does it include all sizes from 10 to 19mm - just the one I have just now said 10 to 19mm but it doesn't have an 18mm which is what I need for the hub to strut bolts (though they were that rusty I managed to use a 19mm socket when changing my hub LOL) |

I want to try and get some reasonably good quality tools without breaking the bank. |

long studs, it goes right over them as its like a ratchet spanner, hole in the middle, and can slot right over the stud, and its quite a shallow depth, so can get into spaces that a ratchet wouldnt. |

Yeah there is a brown brothers near me. I'll try and take a look down there sometime soon. Can't go tomorrow though as I've got exams to revise for .
Thanks for the offer of sending them though - I might get back to you on that if my local brown brothers don't have it. |

Just thought actually - is there any way (Adaptor or anything) that you can use a standard ratchet with these sockets? The reason being that I would need some sockets I can use with my breaker bar etc. |

not to use the gr sockets with a standard ratchet, but tbh, you shouldnt neet a breaker bar to do the clutch! |

wow, that was quick. I know I should to do the clutch but I want something I can use for other jobs as well and also I wouldn't be able to use my torque wrench and stuff with these sockets.
I'll see if I would be able to just get a cheapy set of sockets to use with torque wrench adn breaker bar as I quite like the idea of that set you suggested with the lack of need for deep sockets etc. |

yea, go and get a halford socket set for that, they've a lifetime warrenty with their pro sets, and the sockets arent that dear, but like i said i cant fault the Gear ratchet set, since ive had it (june/may) ive ised it all the time instead of the regular ratchet. |

Does anyone know if there is enough room to move the box to the side if the hub, strut and arch liners are removed without the need to drop the subframe?
Thanks. |
