hehe Huw, i think we should carry on later in msn with a few brews and a couple of spliffs to hand.
Yes win2k and winxp are very very similiar but there is a lot of diffrences that also come into play with viruses, one example is where each OS store thier system files
Windows XP's system files are separate from Windows 2000's; XP installs to C:\Windows, while 2000 goes to c:\WINNT.
A good virus writer will build that into his code but most viruses are just annoying and easy to deal with.
i'm not sure on this one but i think the way XP and 2k have thier boot ups are different too as in whats put into the boot sector of ur HD |

i turn off windows update cos my view is that if it aint broke dont fix it....and it works perfect for me.
windows updates r trying to fix EVERYBODIES problems worldwide and if u dont have a problem it is just more junk being installed on the machine for no purpose. |
What about the gaping windows exploits they fix and put on windows updates? Not a very good way to think of it Their not junk and they are more likely to stop you getting problems (ie, virus via an exploite like the lsass one) than cause them. Sorry to rant, it just happens when you deal with backwards retarded customers all day (i dont mean you!) |

from a simple point of view, how can you say i'm wrong if i never have any problems? i dont even use a firewall and have no problems....everything works as i want it too...therefore i cant see the need to allow my pc to fill up with updates.
its just simply 'aint broke dont fix it' mentallity. |
