oil shouldn't come out of the hole. jack the car up on the passenger side and spin the roadwheel (stick it in gear) and put your finger down the hole, if you feel the spindle turnign then thats good, get a new cable job done.
You done well getting it out, normally they are solid. I have cracked the casings before trying to get therm out. |

right done this and found out there is something spinning in there .
wasnot an easy job for one man though ,i spin the wheel rund down to the gearbox speedo housing stick me finger in there by the time i do this the wheel has stopped as it does .
go back spin the wheel as fst as i can again run down to feel the hole with me finga finally i managed to feel the spin
not because i managed to turn the wheel faster but managed to stick me finger in the hole a lot quicker |

I told you that any efi 19's cable is the same and yes once again i am proven right.
The white and black bits are on all boxes thart don't have the wire clip. |

I find if the tags are still on the black bit that easing them round a bit at a time until you can spin the bacl bit round inside the white thing easily helps. do that then spray wd40 on it. Then leave a few days.
I removed the metal end of a speedo cable today, used the same method as you did, great when that one wporks, I tend to use it as a last resort. this time thoughb it cam out perfect, in fact so good I crimped it back on the calbe after a clean! |

my methods are legendary when they work
got the gearbox end of the thing today,i was literaly in the engine bay standing on the gearbox trying to pull the black plastic bit with pliers, gave away in the end
came out in one piece undamaged
now got it throught the hole in the bulk head and was pulling the cable carefully from the instrument panel end all the cable goes piss easy but the metal bit wont go through the heater matrix gap .
whats the trick ?????? |

Pull it the other way ie from the engine bay Good idea to tie a bit of string to it too so that you can pull the new one back thru! |

this is the new one lindsey ,i am takin it off the black rt to put on the chamade,i am a bit scared of pulling the cable even though i know its made of some solid metal .as i am breaking the black rt i might as well get this out nicely ,i can take the dash and the heater matrix out if necessary but dont think it should be that hard.
i got to note the right route for the speedo cable for the installation on the chamade mind |

It shouldn't be hard but I still think you need to pull it into the engine bay, not the other way round |
