noooooooooo too much hassle, i was going to bid on a turbo unti that came up on ebay, but decided against it coz of hassle, and settling for being as original as possible |

Depends on the mods tbh. If you lower it 50mm, tints, shopping list down the doors, lexus lights, paint bits of interior and so on, then yeah it devalues it.
But if you leave it standard but put in a 2.0 engine for example then
A - it's more desirable
B - it's worth more
C - insurance don't have to know |

I have one of the best ph1 hatches, 68k and 'm the 2nd owner |
Why LOL Chris? It's not 'mint' now and it never will be, but it can get pretty close, that's the point of me working on it
I'm the 3rd owner and I have an A4 folder about an inch thick of history for it. |

personally, with hindsight, i would rather buy a car which has a fully documented restoration, like Neals, at a better price than a car with just a FSH, and nice shine, would anyone agree? |

I'd buy on condition. Mileage and history is just a bonus after that
My Lee has a fully documented history, does that make it a better car that Gentle Bens which is the same spec and colour without the full history? (Yes, i know mine is obviosly better than bens but you get my point ) |

absolutely, mine i think had FSH, but engine blew, piston head ended up in vales, rod through engine side, when we dismantled the engine the inner 3-4 head bolts were finger tight, could have been a botch job? as it was inside, i had no way of knowing what the inside was like. like i said, with hindsight, i know now i'd pay more for a fully documented restored one. |
