Might be easier just to meet at Hermi Gate? I'm guessing you just come through by the M8?

Around lunchtime sounds fine - call it about 1 o'clock?

kl, just keep me updated. Should take about 15 or 20 mins to get there from hermi gate. I'll tell the guy I'll try and be there for about 1.30 on sunday.

The other possibility would be that you could just come to mine (literally about 2 mins from hermi gate) and if it was OK with you could have a quick squint at the 16v, incase theres anything else bent that I haven't noticed.

Do you reckon you'll be able to take the gearbox with you, though I guess it'll depend on who you can get to take you through?

doh, things just keep on getting worse with this clio - now I think the headgasket might be needing replaced. I was haveing a look around again and it looks like it's leaking oil from just above the flywheel. Theres quite a bit of oil around the top of the gearbox casing which I had just presummed was related to the gearbox as I know thats pissing out oil anyway, but I don't think this other oil is from the gearbox. The only possible way it could get there would be if oil was being thrown up by the flywheel - but I'm certain it's not that, and doubt that would be likely at all.

So, am I right in thinking the headgasket is a bugger of a job on the 16v's?

I'll have a closer look later, but I can't see what else it could be. I'm starting to think it was a bad idea getting this car now, lol. But at the same time once I get it all done I'll know the cars had the clutch and headgasket done and shouldn't give me any trouble on those fronts for a while.

I'll probably just give it a go myself mate TBH - I'll have plenty time once my exams are over, and need to watch the £££. It's not definately the HG but I can't see in properly and can't think what else it would be - if your over on sunday I'll be able to show you and get your opinion.

Are you wanting to just come straight to mine, or meet me at hermi gate and then follow me to mine? If you want I can PM you my postcode and you can see where I am on multimap.

Would you be able to meet me about 3 ish at Hermi instead mate? It's just the guy says it would be better for him if it was about 4'ish we went to his house. If it's a problem he says he can still stick to about going to his for 1.30 - 2 ish but would rather it be later.

If you don't reply here pretty soon could you send me a text as I'm going out and won't be able to check for replies here.

good stuff, have you had a chance to poke around it yet or have any idea what the problem with it might have been originally?

nah not really, took it back, dumped it went for food and came home.

Amber and my sister ragged it round the block a few times, they think its ok apart from the brakes which as awful.

Never got any pics either.

Cleared the rubbish out of it and popped the boot open.

Will have a good nose around tomorrow and get pics though.
