i am seriously thinking about this now ,been looking around for a decat pipe for my r19 1.8 rt for a while but not much luck really. been on magnex website as well ,they got the one that fits Renault Clio 1.8 16V and RSI 8V so i believe these will fit the r19 valver for sure . what about the r19 1.8 rt SPI ? does anybody know i have the same exhaust syatem with the rsi ? |

The Clio RSI 8v is the same engine as yours, however the CAT might be different |

clio 16v decat does not fit the 19 16v, (and vice versa obviously). |

i know a valver is a hard job to run ,thats why i dont want to mess with one at the moment . i had this 1,8rt since jan and never caused me trouble so far ,touch wood.
on the other hand i hear people having problems with valvers all the time ,i have been offered a blue valver with a dodgy gearbox and leather interior for 200 quid lately but just cant find the courage to buy it and do it up .cause i am crap when it comes to mechanics . |

if you cant be botherd to look after a valver it will bite you in the arse, i havent had much trouble with mine apart from a head gasket going, but i was still able to drive it home, i have had it for over 4yrs and thats been the only major problem with it.
schakal dont be scared to buy one just look very hard. |

head gasket is one of the biggest problems you can have dave ,did you sort it yourself or a garage ? how much does it cost ?
i have seen a guy with a dodgy looking grey valver the other day ,i asked him about the valver ,he told me not to buy one ever as their gearboxes are going pear shaped easily ,these sort of comments put me well off sometimes ,but cant help it ,i will buy a valver in the end ,just waiting for the right car ,right color ,right reg ,right time etc.
i see a few nice looking valvers on autotrader from garages ,of course they are more expensive but wondering if they come with a sort of quarantee for a couple months at least ? |

things go wrong with all cars...u can either have a normal car that goes wrong and costs you money or you can have a fun car that goes wrong and costs you money.
head gasket is not really a big job if u got the tools...none of which are particularly special. |

thats a bit of an over simplication JB... some cars are definately more reliable than others... even fun ones
but having said that, a big part of reliability for all cars is maintenance for sure. Especially cars that are 10+ years old. If you dont look under the bonnet from one month to the next they of course its going to break eventually. |

i did the headgasket myself, it was a bit of a job to be honest, i dont want to do another one, but i took my time over it i done it in 4 days. like JB said its just depends on the car things happen to every car.
the valver is a completly different beast.
heres mine http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v99/rayman75/FCS2004012.jpg |

i am not saying valver is a bad car causing problems all the time . its the people ,some ferking boy racer buys one for a couple hundred quid ,rags the shayt out of it ,does weird mods now and again ,plays with every single screw under the bonnet and once he is done he passes it away cause he does not give a shit. and then someone like me with the intention of buying a valver and keeping it for years and looking after it ends up having all the extra shit that the boyracer caused . there are decent valvers out there ,not modded ,not messed with ,all i am doing is keeping some spare cash in bank to get my hands on one when it comes out . i can enjoy the 8v version untill then,
fat dave ,did you make that debadged grille yourself ?the car looks nice and tidy mate . |

schakal mate the problem is not people playing with things uner the bonnet, the problem is like i said above people not even looking under there from one month to the next. You just need to keep an eye on things and sort small problems before they become big problems. |

absolutely right ,i know many people just buy a car and dont even check the simple things for years like oil and water levels .
i was looking for a clio for my friend lately ,you should see the state of those cars you ,no oil ,no water in tank for a start and you dont know how long they have been driving the car like that for and they just want to pass it on and get a new car .
once i get my valver i will keep it for years and years i that way i will also know whats under my bonnet too . |
