Hi chaps, had a bit of an up and down day today . Managed to do the front 2 engine mounts today ,and what a palarva that was...access to the v shaped mount top fixings was a right pain.....u chaps said it was easy and that the rear mount was the trouble maker....well....gearbox mount was a doddle....didnt have time for the rear one.
Got the downpipe off ebay[ £4.99 ] still cant fit it yet though cause fitment to the 1st box is different instead of a clamp fitting its got a flange plus i dont know the size of the manifold to downpipe gasket or where to get one for tomorrow..........to be honest i've been a bit of a numnut.......i fitted the ol' ph1 pipe without realising u needed one 4 the down pipe[gasket that is] and its shaking the car as i pull away with no pwr.
SO can anyone advise me on what size the manifold-downpipe gasket is.........................................looking at it now the first box has to come off......must find strait pipe with a flange at one end then weld the other end to the centre section where i cut the box off.......agreed? |

Hi John...........u sure about that cause it'n'arf blowing bad, some chap showed us this platted metal doughnut thingy.... said it went on manifold exit end and downpipe gets tightend up onto it creating a seal. unless somthing else has gone esque...........when i pull away the front of the car vibrates with what i asume is the exaust.....lack of pwr and lots of noise .......due to lack of back pressure..... i can also feel vibration through car/ steering/ when under load |

i got a 'plaitted metal doughnut thingy' with my decat where it mates to the downpipe, maybe thats what he showed you?
Don't think there is a doughnut for the manifold to downpipe join, just the flexible braided bit of pipe gets spayed out and clamped between the flanges iirc |

just give him the code. They only ask all that stuff to find out the code for your car.
I just say "its a C53D mate" if i dont already have the renault code to hand. |

If reno dealerships let people order/request parts online with downloads for for individual cars i.e dialogys ........1.the customer would be happy........2.they would make more money..............3.which in turn would allow them to bring costs down across the board including new cars.........reno win =we win ....how simple could that be? Point - clic thats the bit i want
But oh no lets keep everything a secret lets screw the fecs that bought r cars
Life could be so simple...........................NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Found out why the car was shakin and stearing was vibrating.......the downpipe off the ol' ph 1 was pressed hard aganst the stearing rack.......not very happy but got it sorted now. took day off work to put the downpipe that i got off e-bay on....and guess what i found the conical gasket still on the manifold...so slipped it up and put original ctr section back on with the cat so now i got lambee sensor back in line so car should be fine for a bit.......................still dosnt feel right when i engage the clutch, weird ,mabey the rear mount does need changing after all.
Anyone want to help ???????? |
