i bought 2 cans of engine degressant the other day and i will give my engine a good clean asap . well probably an easy job but i am a bit worried about all those electrical switches ,sensors ,spark plugs etc . am i supposed to avoid them while spraying the stuff or shall i use some sort of masking ?
can i spray this stuff all around the engine (underneath )?
it says the stuff should be rinsed with pressurised water ,what bits have to be avoided ?
and how clean will the engine come out in the end ,is it worth all the effort?

cheers

it did this once...didnt make much difference really...hosed it down.....misfired loads til i mopped the water out the plugs wells...but thats not hard. suppose it depends how dirty it is to start with and how hard u work at cleaning it.

the bottom bits are bit oily not because of any leaks or anything ,i think it builded up by time ,so i am not thinking of cleaning all over the engine now .i wont go anywhere near the plugs either .i dont want any misfiring problems .
so its not worth the hassle ,i wont make a deep cleaning
cheers

I usually do it.

Get everything soaking, with it, don't blast directly into the plugs or senders though, simpel really.

It takes abotu 2 seconds to clean the plugs on the 1.8 8v and just pop the dizzy cap off after to dry it out if needed.
