When you say start - is it turning over or completely dead?

check all HT leads, make sure the coil hasn't broken down. Fuel in it?

right this prob occured on Sonejis white hatch, basically I stuck another starter in, in record time no less, abotu 5 mins tops.

Thing was the stud on the solenoid was a tad loose and the wiring connector was bent to.

So there we were out in the car and he ragged it onto the motorway, hit 90mph and then everythign went dead, we managed to coast about a mile then bumped it up on the grass by the side of the road.

I got out had a look, not easy with no tools, darkness as its the wrong side of midnight.

Anywya saw the gbattery bubbling, managed to get the teminal off, only suffering mild burns and electric shocks.

Felkt round the starter area, turned out the wiring connector had turned and was shorting out directly onto the starters body.

Got home got a spanner went back to the car and sorted it out.

easiest way to change a starter is to lie on top of the engine

lol I remember that - hit the limiter in second and it went capoot! Smoke coming from the cowel area. I don't think that battery was far from the point of explosion!

Mind how amazed we were just how far the car had coasted along?

No it was second lol! It took the car from the top of the slip road down the the very bottom to hit the limiter in second downhill! Wasn't the fastest of horse drawn carrages thats for sure!

so i probably need to slacken the cam belt off slightly, as she is wining a bit, still a bit of grease burning off the xhaust mainfold, and will probably add a chippe ECU instead of use the 2L i have as it just aint running right with the willy ECU on.

She is nice pokey, and sounds much deeper through the scorpion and decat, the new clutch feels nice and light, a little flicky/springy but i'm sure i just need to get used to it. and bites in a completely different place which will take a little while to get used to also

here are small selection of piccy's from the job.
