hi, i know this is not a renault question but i thought you people may be able to help. i recently bought a escort rs 2000 mk 5 and it seems to be blowing out alot of blueish smoke and using oil. just wondered why this can be, the engine was rebuilt around 5oo miles ago if that makes a difference. cheers. also, do rs 2000's have a chain belt instaed of a cam? |

not so much of a hard job, jus a lot to do. (if your good with an engine) its pretty much a strip down of it.
dout you could do it with engine still in.
but if ya did wud be a lot ofyou going under the car, above the car, under the car, above the car, under the car etc,
wud get on my tits personally.
rather just take it out |

how much oil is it using?
If its only been rebuilt then it will burn oil. 500 miles isn't far how did you run it in?
Anyway the oil consumption may die down as the engine gets more miles on it but if its burnign a litre every 10 miles or something then the oil rings have either been left off or the compression are totally knackered. |
