Hi Guys
Had a few problems with my R19 1.4energy GTS recently (as i have told you)
It started when i had my MOT a couple of weeks ago and the bloke said that it was missfiring on idle. On further inspection, he said that cylinder 3 was low on compression.
After doing a bit of digging myslef, i have found that the water/coolant has gone slightly grey.
A few days later, it won't idle at all, it will only stay alive if i hold it above 2k rpm.
After speaking to a mate, he said it might be the head gasket.
I have bought a head gasket and rocker cover gasket, and my brothers mate is doing the work on Saturday for me.
Will this fix it, or will it be the piston rings and/or valves aswell. He is a damn good mechanic so i'm sure he will spot if there is something else thats not right.
Any words of wisdom on the subject would be gratefully recieved.
Many thanks

change it and see.
Easy enough job, make sure he doesn't spin the engine over without the head on unless hes clamped the liners. |
