speaking of which I have some 6x9's that are to go in my sisters laguna, don't suppose you know if they can go in the rear side pods instead of cutting the shelf do you?

Or am I goign to pioneer this venture?

I think it is a cut about job SONY. If you JVC what I mean. You can CLARION trying to fit them but it would probably take an INFINITY to get them right. But if you think you can PIONEER this then GOODMANS what I say,

Hi,

I work for the company who supplies the speakers to Renault.

The Laguna uses 20 watt woofers, and 5 watt tweeters. The fronts are run through a really really bad crossover (if you can even call it that. It's rubbish) attached to the inside of the dash some where. The rears are just full range straight from the head unit. These are again 20 watts, but have a resistor inline with the tweeter.

You may say that 20 watts is not very loud, but don't forget that you have 4 of them and 2 tweeters. So technically, a 110watt sound system.

In the space of the inside of a car. It's not bad. Okay, the EQ on the headunit (for the speakers to accept) is pants. But on a developed EQ, you can make it sound quite good.

Just my contribution

ohh crossovers? Impressive.

The 19's etc have tweeters in the dash that have the full signal sent to them, not even a capicitor inline or anything. All 6 speakers get full range from the head unit.

You can't really call it a crossover. It is an inline jobby that is about 1cm square that splits the cable to go to each speaker. More of a current limiter for frequency.

You'll probably find that in the 19's, the stock speakers have coil resistors, which will then restrict the current and frequencies to the tweeters.

If you were to send full range to the tweeters then all the frequencies below 80Hz would actually melt the diaphram, because they are designed to take frequencies above 2Khz (ish), which have a tighter wavelength, therefore generate less heat.

Uprated speakers (Halfords etc) will have an inline resitor soldered to the side on the chassis, to dissperse heat inside the coil and make it more energy efficiant (louder)

i dont think the 9 got any resistors inline just from the looks of the speakers that came out they look more rangey than just tweeters

the 16v's have standard tweeters, they have a capacitor on the tweeters themselves but I was just saying the wires take the full range.
