Heater in the 16v has stopped working, im assuming this has only happened since i changed the t-peice and drained it. So, assuming its an air lock whats the best way of getting it out? (I'm sure i;ve seen this question asked before, couldnt find it tho)

fill the system and squeeze the hoses a lot to pump the air to the header tank. If you unclip the header tank and lift it up then the air will flow to it easily when you squeeze the hoses.

Is it better to do this when the engine is running or not? I assumed that with the engine running you get a bit of help from the water pump to get any air out into the header tank, and also that the pipes will be a bit warmer/softer!

my working heater does not produce much of a heat either ,is it all because the matrix is all covered in rust etc??
i used a cleaning agent in the cooling system when i first bought the car and was pressure cleaned in a garage after but never managed to get the heat like the fiesta produced .
would it be worth giving it another clean and a flush ?? whats the strongest thing to use for the clean of the system ???

Valeo matrix's are the hottest, so if you have an original matrix then thats the best.

prob is air locks and silt cause problems.

My 16V heater is crap and it really annoys me, the engine has the fan on and the heater is warm at best, not hot like it should be.

the orions heater melted the lcd clock!

Anyway vacuum filling the system is the best method to make sure theres no air in it.

To get the crud out of it you need to remove the matrix, then hose it and jiggle it lots to get it all out.

Well, i got some air out and adjusted the cable behind the dial, seems that it wasnt 'in right' and so wasnt moving it enough, sorted now tho, warm air aplenty, not has hot as the TD tho, but thats probably becuase of reasons chris mentioned above.

its the most horrible thing to do on a 19 id rather fit 12 clutch cables and 3 engines, well.. i remember thinking that at the time but i think its not too bad just get someone to help hold the dash off you as you climb under it and dont brake ya windscreen hehe sigh...
