Evening Chris. Im not gonna bother posting this on the coupe club site coz they are as usefull as chocolate fire gaurd.
Anyway when i rebuilt the head after the cam belt failure it looks like i striped a bolt for the rocker shaft of it threads. Its the second bolt in. Now i have had the car on my mates drive for about 3 weeks now thinking of what to do with it. Do i run it as it is and hope the remianing 4 bolts are enough to hold it. I was thinking of tapping some new threads in the head and modifying a bolt to allow oil to run. Other than that i may just drop it at a garage and get them to sort it.
Help Please |

helicoil I'd go for. Its not expensive to do either.
The rocker shaft will just bend if you leave it and hope.
is it the bolt that stripped or the head thread? Not had a prob with either in my experience.
But you can fit a larger bolt, the older 1.4's etc only run 3 of the bolts with oil channels in them, the other 2 are solid bolts. So get a solid bolt thats over size and staick that in. |
