as most of you know i have a k reg r19 1.8 rt single point inj. which gives out 95bhp .i have been thingking about this for a while and i cant figure out at all.so could some wise people tell me the logic behind this idea:
why the hell did renault use single point inj. on f3p engine when they allready had the technology to use multi point inj.(as f3p comes in SPI and MPI) plus they were allready using MPI on the valvers since 90s ?
the 1.8 SPI engine is not economical for a start ,its got no performance comparing to MPI f3p and there is nothing else i can see in this car that would make me think "allright they used SPI for this reason fair enough"
so whats the point ? |

what do you mean its cheap ? i thought its the same f3p engine but different heads yeah? so how much cheaper are we talking about? |

engines themselves are the came. The only difference is the inlet manifolds and associated wiring and components.
As for cheapness I dunno, enough to justify it.
You mass produced 1 million cars but save 1 pence on each car made you save 10 grand on production but don't have to change the cars selling price.
But say your saving a fiver on each car then after a million cars you have saved 5million quid but again you can still charge the same amount for the car.
Cars ALL cars are about penny pinching. There are many nice cars and many fanatastic cars that have never left the drawing board, the ones that do are never what the designers designed them to be. The finance dept always has the last say. 1 throttle body may release and extra 15bhp but if they can get an existing smaller TB but save 4p per car then they will stick with the crapper one.
Cars are built down to a price, not up to a standard. However some prices are better than others. |

that makes more sense now ,it also explains why the same cars come with different specs in every different country.
example : srr from iceland has the same car 1.8rt SPI as mine but he does not have the headlight adjuster,rear screen washer etc

aye, you need to remember they are in business.
Look back to the corvair of the 60's in america. Because it saved 15 dollars they left off the rear arb and as a result a fair few people were killed due to it rolling on its roof during sharp u turns and bursting into flames.
But paying out compensation to dead peoples families was cheaper than adding the arb to every car so they chose to not fit it.

you probably have the whole wiring for all the leccy bits and bobs mate. they used the same wiring loom on all r19 by the looks .
i have the space for a manual choke but dont have one .i reckon even valvers have them too . |

the looms are NOT the same on all versions.
There are a few different types. |

yes all cars have the choke blanking plug if not fitted with a choke. |
