My ‘M’ reg 1995 Laguna 2.2D RT has been parked for about two months and the sunroof has been leaking. Water has pooled in the central locking/immobiliser ifra-red receiver area. I cannot unlock the car with the key remote. Obviously not being able to unlock using the remote means the immobiliser does not disable. I have read a few articles about disabling the immobiliser by entering a code. There seems to be two procedures for this. One is about pressing down the accelerator pedal and entering a code through a button on the wiper arm, and the other is the one listed on this forum.
I bought the car second hand and there is a code written down in the handbook for this very purpose but no instructions on how to enter it.
My question is how do I know what procedure to use for my car? |

if its an m reg then use the central locking button by the handbrake.
Also pop the cover off and dry it out. Chances are it will still work if you dry it out. |

Chris, thanks for the quick reply.
I know this may sound really dumb but I can't for the life of me find a light that tells me if the immobiliser is on or off. |

That is what i thought, but the only light on the switch is the one that comes on when you switch on the head lights. I pulled the switch apart and there is only one set of wires. |

should be a red led on the central lockign button. If theres no led then theres no immobiliser on the car and it shoudl just start off the key.
In fact the neighbour has an m plate 1.8 which the plip doesn;t work but it starts off the key no bother. |

No, it definitely has an immobiliser. Maybe someone has removed the LED. I'll have to look more closely at the wiring. Thanks for the help. |

the led for the imobiliser is on the dash where the temp gauge is and on the c/l switch if the imobiliser is on it will be flashing every 2-3 sec's both led's flash at the same time. |

I have a feeling the C/L switch has been replaced in the past with an incorrect one. Anyway, today I spent a couple of hours with a friend and we eventualy bypassed the cutoff solenoid and managed to start the car and get it home. |
