Right folks, the middle of January is an exciting time for a student as a healthy 4-figure sum of cash gets deposited in our accounts off of which the Governmente expects us to live until June.
However, given that I have quite a well paid part-time job it means I have a little more disposable income and this means I can afford to have some of the problems with my car rectified. I have a crisis though, and that is that I cannot decide how to prioritise them!
None of them are major problems, and they can all be lived with.
Would appreciate opinions and input. |

bodyshop it is.
mine has a little crease by the rear light cluster just like yours where my now-ex girlfriend reversed into something.
Drives me absolutely nuts just knowing its there, let alone looking at it.
How much you reckon it would cost to get it professionally sorted and painted? |

No more than a ton I would of thought. Mum reversed into some railings and it split the paint on her S40 about 18 months ago, cost 90 notes to fix and was in Metallic Silver like mine, so wouldn't have thought it cost that much?

P.S Know what you mean about annoying though, drives me divvy! |

Did the thieving Chav's steal much? I had my car stolen when I was at uni in Nott's. Was gutted. Plus was after I had spent my loan on kebabs and beer. My vote was for your door lock as it could if damaged tempt thievin scum to have another go.

If you fancy a trip I'll sort the 1st 5 things for you at a good rate.
Get the important bits sorted out 1st then worry about the body works etc.
I'll also do you a deal on the bumpers etc. |

Yeah sounds good Chris, am very interested in the front bumper and I know that the car would be in good hands.
How long would you need her for though? |

box side I'd need to see what seal your talking about, but clutch change a good few hours.
Struts, if I have to swap bits over to make a good set then abotu an hour and a half ish (stuck tyhe new cup in allans strut today took about 15 mins cos I had it apart last week).
if its the motor then 5 misn tops. I have panels and motors up here in plenty supply.
Door lock no time plus I have a lock and key if you want.
Wiring prob dunno depends on how bad it is.
A weekend and it woudl be sorted as long as it wasn't the wettest most horrible weekend ever. |

OK mate sounds like a good learning experience! Am I OK to crash at your gaff overnight then if it ends up being a 2-day job?
Also I don't suppose you could put together a rough estimate for it all could you? I want to know what it's gonna cost me before I commit myself!
As a random point would you be able to undertake such repairs during the week or are you busy? Only reason is I work weekends y'see, being a student so I'd prefer not to have to scrounge any more time off as they've been pretty lenient with me in that they've given me more holidays than I should be entitled to!
If it means mucking you around then don't worry, I'll make arrangements to fit in around you buddy.

During the week is fine mate, suits me better as well really.
Yep you can crash at mine. You can sleep in the spare room, theres a bed (complete with duvet, pillows and sheets etc), a load of car crap including a 16V interior on the floor so I wouldn't advise sleep walking.
I'll work out an estimate for you matey and pm it to you, if I forget then remind me! Alan knows about my memory problems! |

That's very good of you Chris!
Student loan got deposited in on Saturday, so it's just a matter of choosing a time really. Got exams on Tuesday and Wednesday and then I'm off for a bit until about late Jan-early Feb, so around then would be good.
Once I know definite dates for Uni then I will PM you or whatever to arrange an appropriate time to pay you a visit! |
