oil and battery light??

i put the key in and turn the key to put the electrics on and the oil and battery light come on but dont go off but do when i start the engine ??

could it be a dodgy ground ?

i did fit a brand new battery the other week?? also that battery was one 3 times the normal rating somfink like 600 cold crank rating and 60 amps but it was recommend as the heavy duty for the clio 1.8 and theres no diff so i dont see the problem

exactly what is the problem your having? From what I can see its being perfectly normal.

the lights are meant to go out after a few secs though and they are staying on ?

Every car that I have ever graced/owned/worked on when you have the ignition on the oil and batt light stay on.

The oil light stays on until the engiens running at which point oil pressure turns it off.

The alternator light stays on until the alt is spinning quick enough to extinguish the light due to the alt charging.

oi tis harsh i was sure they never came on and stayed on

as punishment to the lights the whole clocks have been in my room a week and thats where they will stay people keep flashing me though keep forgeting me lights hehe
