Hi

Following on from the probs ive been having with thie renault 19 1.9TD.

Pulling off the roundabout onto the carriageway, i noticed smoke coming from the exhaust, thick black smoke. but only when the turbo kicks in??

worse in 1st and 2nd then fine in 4th and 5th??

Looks like oil is being burnbt off by the turbo which was said in the previous post by chris and someone else??

Any idea how to correct this fault as the little fiesta that was behind me was engulfed in a black mist!

Ive noticed this since the revs blew through the roof but thats the worst its been

depends, might be the oil seals in the turbo which is pumping it through all the time or ir may just be oil in the intercooler etc gettign chucked out.

however oil burns blue, diesel when its to rich burns black. To rich in a diesel means incomplete combustion which could be down to a number of factors.

bent piston nope. Bent conrods a possibility if you have gone through a big deep puddle and water got sucked in.

no chris no puddles!!

Its been every since the revs went throught the roof, been performing like a pile aof poo.

Turbos more powerful since that though, just smoking, pain to fire up then blows shit out thwne turbo kicks in?

first thing to do is strip down the induction pipework, clean out the intercooler

Pay attention to the engine breathers as well. There is 1 way vbalves in them, if these fail the turbo pressure enters the crankcase which will cause leaks from seals and cause direct leaks into the inlet tract.

Use white spirit or something to wash the pipes and intercooler out with.

If the 1 way valves are buggered get new ones. Easy way to test, blow into them, they should only allow you to blow 1 way.
