make a sandwich?

Dipping the clutch and it cutting out won;t be the headgasket, if it was it wouldn't idle mate.

You have been quiet lately, we not good enough for you anymore?

Only way to see is take it for a thrash, see what happens.

well, theres mayo in the filler cap too. the main breather pipe which runs from the rocker cover to the TB was full of gunk, which it wasnt 2months ago. the water level also seems to be dropping slowly.

as for the idle, its generally unsettled, and when firing it up, itl often cut out. its gotten gradually worse, to a point today where its cut out about 7-8times. me fitting the hi lift kents last night, mightve made it worse...

Did you re-set the ECU when you done the cam swap?

Mine gets the gunk under the cap but not really in the pipes, sometimes its quite thick but the cars rarely used.

Is the engine lacking go or what? Waht about the coolant? Is it oily?

the oil 90% of the time goes into the water as the waters at a good deal less pressure than the oil.

mine has zero gunk, plus never looses water....SINCE putting a new gasket on.

there are tests u can do to the water and oil isnt there to see if the are mixing??

yep its called looking JB.

Mine doesn't loose water except due ot elaborate coolign system issues. Mine only gets gunk in the cap. You should see the gunk that was in project Y cos it had sat for about 3 weeks. Same with the exhausts, you can poour pints out of them up here.

You can dip a exhaust gas analyser in the tank to see if theres any HC's in there or the multimeter test as vaoltage increase with the acidic gasses.

reset the ECU? why wud i wanna do that?

the engine pulls like a train, apart from the dodgyness of the idle and cuttin out, its goes jsut fine.

Well I dunno, a change of the cams leads to a alteration of the idle running characteristics so it will take time to re-establish corretc running.

re-set the ECU and unless the cars generally knakcered or you have way out of spec bits (TPS, lambda, CTS etc) it should go just the same as before but should learn to idle better.

Its adaptive but it takes time.

i have that mayo thingy all the time in the breather pipes ,running into the throttle body and the manifold
especially the t piece which connects those 3 pipes is full of mayo ,i just take it out and clean with carb cleaner spray . and after a few weeks the mayo is there again.
by the way its a 1.8 rt SPI 8v . and i am loosing oil from the rocker gasket if thats got anything to do with it .

no gunk on the filler cap or cooling system though ,but as far as i know thats because of short journeys i make all the time as a wise man from the north pole advised.
