because it's a more highly stressed engine in standard trim.

most of them have at one time been owned by neds so have been thrashed and not looked after which won't help reliability.

that sounds like a good reason ,neds can afford them as they are cheap for a fast car as well.

Or you can buy an Energy that are even cheaper, have been owned by Granny's and generally have lower mileage!

Mine had one previous owner - who happened to be my then Chemistry teacher's disabled mum, hence the car had only 42K and a Full Renault Dealer Service History. My dad bought it about 4 years ago for the sum of £650 and he bequeathed it to me when he changed jobs and got a works van.

driving to the shops and back every day on full choke does not a healthy engine make.
