been on the lookout for the right car for a while...its finally turned up. found on ebay, noone bid, emails, sorted a price, went down to collect this weekend.

it was in portsmouth, im in swansea, so a fair trek, but fortunately i have a mate who lives down there so i made a weekend of it goin down after work by train friday...picked car up saturday...came home sunday, via gloucester to collect some spares from jimbo.

it was advertised as having power steering leak, which i think put everyone off...but not me! got thru 3 litres of fluid on the way home but no damage done. besides some of the spares i got off jimbo included a rack and pump...

plus a spanking set of mint p2 seats frt and rear....seriously right place right time.

so now it sits on my drive awaiting action, altho i am now skint for a while so i will have to do all the free stuff first, ie cleaning it out fitting new seats..be nice to get the engine otu so i can clean in the bay...as i plan to fit different engine.

the engine in it now is sweet. jimbo can confirm, really quiet engine. i think a mount may be gone as i had serious vibrations when putting my foot down, which spoilt the ride a bit, plus i think almost every bush and ball joint must be worn judging by the knocking noise lurking deep below.

still all this dont matter as i will try my best to make it good again.

cost 150 btw.

rust - little bit of bubbling around the vent, bit on the rear arches, other than that pretty good...as far as ive looked.

pics are a bit crap as i havent been at home with it yet in daylight....ill get better pics at the weekend.

so I assume now you have noticed the ph1 is a far more sporty feeling car, a lot stiffer than the ph2's.

Nice colour.

yes...well that was the vibration doin that...as if the zorst manifold was comin into contact. it did look close and there were marks in the heatshield suggesting contact at some point

..the knocking was always there on uneven road surfaces.

fecked rear mount matey. Mine was the same. You may find the metal PS pipe have been cut into by the rear moiunt bracket like mine was.

Knocking will be a balljoint.

still not to worry. all will be replaced.

Neals is £1200 though!

I think I am going to have to cheer myself up and fix mine then go round and buy the white one back.

its £1200 to buy it now yeah, but it starts at £200 and the price he's realistically looking for will be somewhere in between. Of course If it gets no bids like JB's, he might be willing to let it go nice and cheap, especially if he needs rid sharpish!

ah yes i remember seeing that one. Thing that puts me off is, with 449 blue if you bump something or get some damage on it, body panels are easy to come by. Not so simple with tungsten...

Just have to be careful not to crash Smile

What may be a good idea is if we let others know what we are after R19 wise on ebay so we don't outbid each other sending the price too high.
just a thought . . .
