What is going on here then?
SEE CHRIS H POST BELOW FOR PICS
That copper pipe has been there since i got the car and its started to bug me.
Don't know where these pipes should be going and cant find any 16v engine pics or hose diagrams that have them on. They obviously shouldnt just go round a loop like that and is the result of a botch repair by the previous owner.
Does anyone know the real route for these pipes?
Could this be why my engine stays too cold when driving (only quater way on the gauge) and heats up too much when at stand still??
Would be good to have a picture of someone elses to see.
Cheers! |

Yep, have a header tank.
All the pipes that should be there are there.
Followed the dialogys picture of the coolant pipes and those two pipes that are looped arent even shown
Its a clio 16v F7P |

Nah, the header tank pipes are in the right place.
One goes to the heater matrix, and the other goes in parallel to the bottom foreign pipe in the picture |

you got a better pic from further away? That pics useless to diagnose anything. The lower pipe should be the pipe that runs to the aux water pump, should go through a metal pipe to the front of the engine. |

still looks to me like the bottom hose should be going to the header tank. |

The pipe that comes out at exacty the same point as the bottom one goes to the header tank though and they are from the same feed
Perhaps it is the pipe to the water pump and they have blocked it off so that the entire coolant flow has to pass through the radiator??
This would explain why the car runs cool when driving aswell if it is the case. |

the water pump only operates when the cars turned off and the feed pipe for it is via the metal pipe we see and it goes to the front where it goes through another pipe to the pump. |
