 Renault 19 Chamade 16V Problems Hot Starting

Hi,
I have aRenault 19 that has started to "surge" ocassionaly when idling and when I stop it after a run it will not start again unless left for 1 hr or so.
The plugs when examined are wet with petrol when examined so geting too much fuel? If I try to start with the pedal full to the floor (getting more air?) and turn over for 20 secs then its starts, albeit complaining and coughing.
The crankshaft and coolant temp sensors (as a computer hooked up to it said it thought the temp was -3 when it should have read 60degrees!)have both been changed as have the plugs/dist cap and fully serviced but
this still happens! I am about to take it to a Renault garage in Banbury to have an expensive diagnostic test which they say may not solve the problem as my old (L reg) car doesn't store that much info on the chip.
Has anybody seen this sort of thing before and have any idea?

Hi
I guess no-one had this problem before.

If anyone else ever gets this problem, here's what was needed:

Iit turns out there are two coolant sensors one on the radiator and one on the block and the first garage had changed the wrong one.

3 mins on the diagnostic computer and 120 quid later was all it took!

I never saw this post.

Its quite common and yes indeed I did mention it one of my tech articles.

the CTS sensors fail within spec all the time, by in spec means its fine up to say 50 degrees then when the temp hits 51 degrees the sender sends out a signal sayign its -10 degrees the ECU doesn't see this as false thus runnign problems occur.

And yes thats right this was explained in the tech article and indeed yes again there are even pics on the site of the sensor, where its located and how to change it.

If you had read the tech articles and doen a better search then a tenner is what it would have cost.
