Right, as per the for sale section, my clio 16v is being sold as i need something cheaper before i go back to uni. However i still want something relatively fast so i'm thinking of getting a cheap 1.2 clio and 'fiddling with it'.
I have already seen a suitable clio but it's fitted with a DIET engine. However, i reckon i could get away (insurance wise) with upping that to a 1.4/1.6 by dropping an energy lump in and claiming its just a simple '1.2' swap. Now, i have a few questions;
- Are the mounts/shafts/exhausts the same between DIET and Energy Lumps? If not what what i need to make the Energy lump fit?
- What would be the cheapest way to up the power of an energy lump? I know you can fit a laguna TB, with headwork and cam but this requres mapping (expensive) so i'm looking for a more 'bolt it together and go' option...unless i'm wrong about the mapping issue? Opinions appeciated!
Thanks |

yes it goes in.
only the 1.4 cam with SPI, not the 1.6.
Why not just by a 1.4 RT, cheap as chips. |

I'm having difficulty finding a 1.4RT up here and due the the massive expense i blew on my valver the folks are putting pressure on to get a newer, slower and therefore more reliable car which is why i'm left with the 1.2.
I should have been clearer about the 1.6 point - i know it's MPI but I thought as it's just a bored 1.4 i thought i could just swap BE's with the 1.4 as a cheap way to more power. However, I don't know if it's worth doing as K7M's are only 10bhp more than an RT or if the 1.4 ECU could handle it?? |
