My car has developed a curious habit of either stalling or 'kangarooing' (stuttering engine) when you put your foot down to go at a roundabout (i.e. go onto full load from idle with car in gear, like when you crawl up to a roundabout). If you increase rpm gradually and smothly it does not 'choke', but the problem is becoming increasingly worse, and the kangaroos increasingly violent!!!!! I was thinking that it may be an intwermittent connection of some sort (dizzy, HT, plugs etc.) to a cylinder but the momentary cutouts seem too be too lumpty for it to be just one cyl.

Also (unrelated or not), yesterday when i started the car it would only fire on 3 cyls until after about 5 mins it cleared through. Again may be evidence to point to my thoughts above but has never happened before, whereas the kangarooing has been with me for a few weeks now.

Any ideas gratefully recieved,

PS Chris, I promised you photos of me changing springs / strut about a month ago for a guide...can i send you a large attachment (~9MB)?

clio 16V? look at the wiring loom to the alternator, they are notorious for faults, if the heavy booting pulls the engine back the connection is made then broken and the voltage spike shuts the ECU down momentarily.
