Hi All
My car has started running like a sack of shit over the last couple of days.
It has loads of flat spots all over the place.
When it cold it sounds like there's no oil and it's metal against metal. It's not because it had an oil change about a month ago, and i check the level every week.
There seems to be an awful lot of white smoke from the exhaust. More than the usual condensation. It is also creeping out of the exhaust manifold (would that cause a flat spot???)
I had the carb off and cleaned it all (if you remeber my other problems) the other month so thats not the problem.
Any help would be lovely.
Cheers

when mine was cold I used to get a metal squeaking, never found out what it was but it lasted for an extra 70k miles never causing a problem or getting worse.
Where abouts on the manifold is the steam coming from? Sounds very headgaskety matey. |

Not again!!!
I've only had this engine in a few months. If you remeber, the old one died of head gasket causing all sorts of problems.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
Bloody car
Who said that 1.4 energy's were the best.......WRONG!!
As for the leaky manifold. It's coming out of the venty bits in the middle. |

so you still have the heatshield on? Take that off! I thought you said it was from the manfiold.
Its probably the metal water pipe behind it thats rotten and seeping, its a common but cheap fault. |

Is that the water pipe that runs along the front of the block behind the exhaust manifold as it goes down, and runs from the water pump at the left hand end to the bottom pipe junction on the right end of the engine? |

Ahh ok - I had that one go on my car before I had it a while back, but it went at the same time as the water pump so the whole lot was changed by a garage. Looks a fairly easy change to me. |
