I have gone through the hassle of having to get a distress code to disable the immobilizer so that the car can be started. The keys stopped working - and it is not the batteries (changed them - same problem). One of the keys does not flash the diode indicator and seems to have a problem, but the other key looks alright. What is the procedure for reprogramming the keys for a Renault Twingo 1997? (I have read the instructions here = http://www.retro-renault.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=806 but they did not seem to work for the Twingo - not the key programming part at least).

Grateful for any help! Cheers!

the key synching can take a while, eventually after 2 weeks I managed to get the megane key re-synched!

Keep trying.

Hi Chris H,

Thanks for answering. I am not sure I have done the right thing - I enter the code once using the button at the end of the arm for the windshield wipers (then the light goes on for 30 secs, and the car can be started).

Should I now press the same button again - or the central locking button? Shall I press the keys while the light is off (or on)?

Grateful for clarifications!

OK - I now found more info which may help (will retry):

"When you put the final digit in the light goes out comes back on again (i.e. the 30 second interval) press and hold the central locking button again and the doors should lock and unlock, remove the key and plip away at the sensor, in about 3 tries the doors should lock and unlock again.

The trick is to wait for the light to go out then come back on then remove the key and hold the button it should lock then unlock then just plip away at the receiver. "

Cheerio 4 now!
