Prob had this loads before,
Basically i want to put a williams engine in a valver... doing it shouldne be a prob just really wanna know the best way to do it...
the 16v driveshafts will fit into the willy box wont it?
people say use the meg lump but is it true that the head dont fir under the bonnet...
think i have the chance of a willy engine with a r19 16v box and a spare willy head
(thats where Chris H comes in) might want the spare head played with Chris if you want a little earner...
But whats the best thing to go for?
oh and the 16v loom is the same am i right? just need to change the ECU?
Thanks |

shafts fit
meg lump fits fine, same overall size as the 16V/willy lump
16V loom is the same as the williams.
Best engine is the megane lump but the hardest swap unless you stick the 1.8/willy head on it but then defeats the purpose really. |

megane, right best thing to do with the megane isstick it in and run the megane management but you need the immob etc to go with it.
If you stick the meg bottom end on a 16V/Willy block you need to fit the 1.8 flywheel to the meg block.
If you wish to run the 1.8/willy managed ment on a complete megane block you need to fit the 1.8/willy flywheel, machine the dizzy hole out then run willy management which still will not be right, so you'll need to get it remapped and suitable chip to do so.
Willy is the quiskest swap yes, a weekend job. |

so if i dropped a meg 2.0l straight in, and ran the management: do you mean,
1) just plug in the megane ECU ?
2) use the entire loom?
whats are the problems with machining the dizzy out and using a 16v dizzy???
what are the probelms with using the megane bottom end with a 1.816v head??- spoke to nick hill who told me he has done many of these conversions....
also is the gearbox compatible with williams speedo cable, as i have heard that they are electronic: can this be changed to speedo cable driven? |

you really havent researched this have you.
you can put the 1.8 head on, but then you lose the best piint about having the megane engine.
no problems with machining the head and carrier out to accept the dissy, Stan has done this and you will have to do it because....
I emailled the guy youre buying the engine off and unless he lied to me which it seems he is compelled to do for some reason, you wont get the loom, as it got cut off. You cant use the megane ECU because you will need other bits as well.
Clio williams uses the same cable speedo as the valver, but apparently the sender that plugs into the box for the digital feed is driven off the same plastic diff gear as the cable, so if you pull the sender out you can fit the cable in. Cant confirm how true this is though. |

As said, the easiest/cheapest way is 2.0 btm end+1.8 head+1.8 management+williams perfomance chip. This will give you a nice gain over the 1.8 engine.
as for the inlet manifold fitting under the bonnet...there seems to be alot of people saying it doesnt fit, but have they/you ever seen the complete meg engine in a clio? |

lol no need to be bitter, if you still want a 2.0l megane engine
feel free to email me, i know where there is one.
its a 36,000 mile example.
for your information, i have spent the last week researching the matter, finding anyone that has actually done the conversion, and liasing with them is rather difficult, the onlyperson i know of, who is attempting the conversion is stan^.
What do you think im doing posting on here! im researching, so i dont make any mistakes. I have dropped in a few F7R engines, but never a megane one.
and i know what comes with the engine.
exactly stan, i may come up and see yours before mine drops in, im a reg up ullswater, so can travel a bit further up..lol,,,,.. |

bitter? eh? I answered your questions! You were the one who posted a smart arse comment in my thread.
you misunderstand - you were willing to pay more than me so you got it, fair enough, thats how selling things works. i was just pissed off with the guy whos selling the engine for telling me bullshit stories... i mean.. putting the engine in a laguna for his wife? what am i - a complete idiot? (dont answer that ) Im still gonna email him again once you have the engine!
BTW, please PM me the details of this 36,000 miler! |
