I have a Megane 1.6 16v sport 1999 or rather I had one until the water pump went taking out the cam belt can you please advise the damage its likely to have caused and guestimate the cost of repair please |

I assume you will not be rectifying the problem yourself?
Damage, worse case scenario, new camshafts, 16valves, 16 valve guide, 4 broken pistons, maybe cracked block/head. new engine time
Whats most likely is a few bent valves.
How fast were you going when it went?
But if your lucky then a new water pump, cambelt kit and a couple of valves and headgasket should see you sorted. Price, dunno I would imagine 500 ish or so. |

I was doing about 50 at the time .. no I don't think I will attempt to rectify myself... I have trouble removing the spark plugs!!
I had a look in the haynes manual and it looks real technical to replace valves
fingers crossed mayb i will get some luck.. I need it lately

Few bent valves is the norm with them.
Its quite common for people to do the timingbelt and tensioners and not the water pump...2 weeks later the pump takes the belt out |
