How long should you leave the oil draining for?

Are there any techniques to getting as much of the old oil out as possible?
Or is it just a case of when it stops dripping, thats it?

Cheers!

when it stops dripping thats it.

If the engines hot when you do it it drains quicker and you do get more out. Also take the filler cap off

Now, all thats left is to train my pet monkey to crawl into the engine and fetch the oil filter out.
Either that or i lose some weight and squeeze my arm up there Confused

Actually....

I did mine yesterday and i´m sure i heard a plop when the plug came out...so i started swearing and dived my hand into the stinking dirty oil to find it and it wasnt there! it was on the ground behind the drain pan!

Unbelievable.
Just snaped my sump plug key.
Can't drive the car to get a new one either because i've put engine flush in it.

Why can't things just go smoothly for once Evil or Very Mad

Got the plug out in the end, landed in the tub of oil as expected lol.

Is it safe to leave the oil draining over night then fill it up in the morning?

Was still dripping out when it got dark

Cheers!
