Good stuff.
Wonder how many planes those guns took down.
Near George in the forth is the ww2 lookout, where the guns used to be, you can get to it at low tide at high tide the walkway is under water, its quite good an all. |

tbh not sure how many planes they took out, but probably not that many as it was mainly a sea defence fort. Newhaven was bombed a bit because it was a navy base but obviously nothing like london. but it is an interesting place. Newhaven was also used in ww1 for troop ships and it had a seaplane hanger, yep thats right seaplanes in ww1 I didn't know they existed.
Incidently all over the south of england you can still find pillbox's normally be side rivers or railway lines. |

aye warfare is great for technological advancement.
Theres a fair amoutn of stuff up here.
If anyone ever gets the chance to go to orkney, scapa flow still has the scuppered wrecks to prevent them getting in from the north.
Trouble is the war was before everyone on this forums lifetime and sadly its all being forgotten about. |

yep know what you mean I maybe old but not that old
but I think these museums do have a place even if its to remind us that war is not a nice thing were everybody gets up and goes home for tea at knocking off time. But thats my own personal opinion. |

trouble with museums is that they are npot attended enough.
Rarely any teenager stops to think as hes passed out pissed out his face in town at 3am that his great, great grandfather signed up at 14 to get killed for these freedoms that are taken advantage of. |
