Right, so... i buy the 19 16v with a snapped cambelt, i do the cambelt and replace the bent valves, so... i put it back together, get it all running sweet, then it kept getting a flat battery, had it runing last night to move it,so went out today to jump start it, and it just wont turn atall, so... take it up the road and try and bumpstart it, but, all it does is just slip the clutch, the engine will not turn, ive got a breaker bar and a jack handle on the bottom pulley, and it still wont turn, not backwards or forwards! i dont know whats wrong and this car is beggining to try my patience, its one thing after another.
any help, or advice much appreciated

plugs are out, cams are out so all the valves are closed, just incase it had slipped and was jammed against one of the valves. still nothing, will not turn at all.with the bar or on its own steam

yes you lift it out.

Or if you don;t have a hoist/can;'t access one jack it up as high as possible, stick a load of bricks under th esump etc then drop the car down.

Not done it that way for a while but it works!

when the engine has locked solid its normally either thrown a rod, clutch has blown apart an jammed it or hydro locked.

right, well ive checked all the valves are intact, the pistonts are all at the same height, i.e 1+ 4 are at the top, and 2+3 are at the bottom, so this rules out con rods does it not? its not hydrolocked as the head is off, so what options does this leave me with?

dumb question, but can you get the pistons to move up and down while the head is off?

nope, the whole engine wont move using the bottom pulley, and i dont want to push the pistons down with force as the engine has had alot of performance work that i have discovered on dismantling it.like stage 3 cams, etc.
so its more than likely got lightened pistons etc.

All you can do is pull the sump off, tbh you'd be better off takin the whole engine out as it sounds like its gonna need to come out anyway

Sump off is the least you're gonna have to do to have a deeper look so have a peep there an report back

Check if you've got the black bottom end (steel) or the silver one (alu, i think) Atleast the black one has a construction fault where it doesn't have oil chambers so when driving through corners the big end bearings will be without oil for a split second and that can kill them quite easily and causing an awfull lot of damage!! Or maybe they already replaced the big end bearings once with renaults newer model that don't have the retaining stuff on them.

thing is, its been driven 2wice since it was first rebuilt!! im only 16, so i cant drive it, and its only been driven after ive finished some work onit, and its being tested.

they were less than 5 minute runs apart from one, where it was taken on a 10 mile journey from work where i finshed the job onit, to home thats the longest its had.also it has been stalling quite often? i.e when it was on deaccelaration frm the last run, just coming onto the drive, it stalled.would this say anything?
