Hi guys. I've been pointed this way a while ago about the above topic.
I suspect one or two of my injectors may be leaking through the o-ring at it's base, but only very slowly.
The local renault specialist has said he's only ever seen this once but my lines seem fine and he's tightened al the connections.
Does the o-ring sound like a reasonable suspect? If so do you guys know where I can get them without forking out for a new rail?
Cheers guys. |

yep it can happen.
If you do a search someone not long ago got the last set from bosch so who knows where you can get them now.
Thing is an o-ring will only leak fuel if its at the rail and let air in if its where it goes into the head |

Have the injectors been out recently? I only ask as I had a similar problem with the O Rings on the fuel lines which turned out to be caused by me pinching it when reconnecting the lines. Took the O rings out and put them in boiling water and walked away with coffee in hand. Walked back after coffee consumption, refitted O rings and leak issue solved. |

No mate. Would they have come out with a re-con head. Apparently the recipts show a belt snap at 70k 4yrs ago and the head was re-conned.
It's on 115k now and only started this after another problem. The other problem was I used a redex shot and after a long drive it was stuttering when coasting in 3rd.
I'm wondering whether the Redex has shifted a chunk of shite and it clogged the injector slightly and that under pressure maybe it's forced it's way out.
The leak is really minimal but it stinks when cold and I'd obviously rather it wasn't there really. |

I'm pretty sure it's not the rail. The seepage is way too slow. This is something that only appears (if it's dried off) after a couple of weeks of running. |

Yip. It stinks. At the mo it's not puddled, it formed a sludge with other muck, but it was only dried off 2 weeks ago. |

hmmm
pintle cap might be loose on the injector thus allowing a leak.
Only way to see really is to remove the injectors check the seals and see if the pintle cap is loose. |

OK. So what's a pintle cap? Couldn't see any leaks at all round the rail or pipes last night. (Took 15 shots to get that pic in the rain with a torch in one hand and camera in the other!) |

Might check this out myself then. Will I be ok to just crimp the fuel lines with a hose crimp? And do you have any words of warning about removing the injectors? |

don't do it in a boiler room/hell/oil field fire.
Just remove the fuel pump relay start the car and try and run it, that way all the fuel is out the lines.
Pull the rail off evenly.
Before removing it if you can blast air over the area to remove crap. |
