Purchased one of the above yesterday, and while i was looking through what was included in the kit, i came across the RCA lead (H/U > Amp). Now then, what purpose does the middle cable serve Question Question Question My last wiring kit did not have this 3rd cable

ah that would make sense.

hmmm, means i have an extra cable then.

the kit includes:
the rca cable above, the power cable, earth cable and now a seemingly redundant cable which i first assumed to be the remote cable.

The extra cable is the remote power cable and the line in between the RCA's is the noise reduction earthing which you should connect to your h/u and leave the other side (amp) disconnected!!!

Before people start screaming here, yes i know some manufacturers (cheap) say it's an amp remote cable. But when checking the manual of monster cable or van den hul cables etc (the pricier ones) they'll say its earthing.

You connect it to the back of the h/u. The spacer you screw in the h/u? (at the back) that's the easiest place to do. yup to other end you you leave flapping about (just cut of the stripped part).

thats not gonna have any use, its not use at all as a screening wire and it will not suppress anything!

for it to be shieled it have to go around the wires not along the middle.

I know all about this and have had many a happy hour makign engine looms with suitable shilding, knock sensors are notorius for problems due to close proximity to the HT's.

tinfoil can even be used as a sheild.

wired the sub up in just over an hour tonight.

it was cold, it was dark, the battery on the torch ran out, and the power cable was too short. BUT, its all done now and sounding sweet as!

Regarding the 3rd wire on the RCA cable, i decided to take a chance and use it as the Remote cable.

My first test proved my efforts to be Wanker! but as it turns out it was just a dodgy earth. Rolling Eyes

So that 3rd wire works fine.

As for feeding my Sub, in terms of music, or do you mean my Amplifier?

Amplifier is some decrepid old LongMill 800W 4Ch i scrounged off eBay. Music, well, dance, rock, R'n'B and cheese Laughing
