A little while ago I posted a question withe regards to oil getting in to my drivers footwell. Well after cleaning it up again I have noticed that once again the leak has returned.
My question is: Would the heater matrix leak Oil through the air ducting in the car??
As you can see the air ducting seems to be the source of the problem as it is generaly covered in oil. |

heater matrix has got no access to oil my good man
even if there was oil in the matrix somehow ,it would not piss in to the wells as pure oil ,it would turn to mayo .
the oil in the air ducting is normal as far as i know ,they get inthere via breather or rocker cover i reckon |

Schakal, you seriously think the rocker cover breathers vent oil fumes and assorted hydrocarbons through the ducting into the cabin?

Its not normal engine oil. It Smells exactly like used gearbox oil.
but as I have no leaks around the box I'm at a loss.
I do however have a slight oil leak somewhere at the back of the engine, but the engine oil is a completely differant type to that found inside the car. (so it must be unrelated)
The oil seems to travel down the ducting and then onto the break pedal.(not the best place to have oil) from there it collects in a large puddle on the carpet?
I have checked all of the fluid and oil levels I found them to all be normal.
F**k it, I'm just going to strip the dash out untill iI find the source. |

Stripped it and supprise supprise. No leak!
It was oily behind the dash and on the back of the clocks (spedo ect)
but nothing amaising. I just have no idea where it could be coming from? |

ok i am saying it again ,
on my 1.8 rt the air ducting was full of oil and i remember chris h saying that was coming from either the breathers or the rocker cover . but that was normal as far as i remember him saying .
whos the daddy now ???????  |

Are the Phase 1 oil pressure guages mechanical or electrical guages? The only thing I can think is that the oil pressure sender might be leaking or if the guage is mechanical, the line could be split. I've never seen oil come into the cabin on a 19 before but i've only ever worked on Leanne's phase 2 so who knows. I cna't even think of anything oil related than runs on the bulkhead on the 19's |

Schakal, i am quite sure that chris has never ever said that the engine vents oil or oil fumes into the cabin. |

schakel, u r refering to the inlet hosing for the engine...
whereas neal is referring to the air ducting for the blowers in the cabin....2 different things...and the topic of this thread is about the internal blower ones. |

senders are all leccy Mick, capilaries went out in the 70's my good man! At least from the manufacturers point of view.
I reckon oil is being siphoned up the speedo cable in this case. |

need to make sure thats the problem first.
As for solution, well it shouldn't be doing it!
seal might be away in the diff or the box is very overfilled. |
