Changed my thermostat on my clio 16v a few weeks ago and filled the cooling system back up with water.
No air locks and all was fine, but i hadnt put coolant in as i hadnt bought it yet.

Got the coolant and drained the system again before refilling it with the fresh.

Used the bleed screw on the radiator till no more air was coming out, ran the engine at medium revs until the fan kicked in. Was squeezing the pipes untill all were hot and i could get no more bubbles out.

Leave the engine running and the coolant level begins to rise until it bursts out of the top ferociously bubbling and i lose most of my coolant.

Turn the engine off and instantly the coolant is sucked back down til the header tank is empty.

I then refill and try bleeding again but exactly the same happens.

This is driving me mad!

Please can someone tell me whats going on and how to fill this without it blowing out??

Will be very greatful

Sorted!!!

Disconnected the return hose to the header tank from the heater matrix and purged it through from the top of the tank.

Then ran it at high revs til the thermostat was fully open and loads of air came rushing out.
(had to keep a garden hose running into thhe top of the header tank) Then reconnected the return hose to the header tank and all is fine.
