Hmmm I don't like the idea of a second hand one. Want a new shiny one that will last me longer and generally be better than a second hand one. Like I said tho, I am stupid |

Dunno really! Just would rather a new bit than a second hand bit. But when you look at the price........I dunno. Would a brand new exhaust system not work better than say, a 2 year old one? Spoze you'll never notice the difference tho will ya |

With a normal exhaust you would expect some corosion of the exhaust but as these are stainless steal you don't have that problem.
You could expect the exhaust to be coked up a bit but that happens to all exhausts and to be honest when they remove it from the car most of it will have been knocked loose. It realy wouldnt make any differance anyway.
As it's under the car anyway, the fact that it will be dirty is neither here or there, considering that the tailpipe is all you see.
As it is pollished s/s it will come up to a good shine with a bit of t-cut anyway.
The only thing not covered in the warenty is contact damage i.e dents and contact holes. but you would see them in the pic's and they would have to be declared by the seller. |

yeah, I WANT to spend five times more than I have to, that's why I'm not coming on here and trying to ask advice before I go and buy one
I just wanted to know if people thought the k-tec one was any good or not (which nobody has answered yet...... "don't know" or "not a fuckin clue mate" would've done) cuz I certainly have no clue. I had just never considered 2nd hand ones before. And you say they are 'always' on ebay? Well I must have a different ebay to you, cuz I hardly ever see 'em on there. Hence why I hadn't considered a 2nd hand one before cuz didn't think they were that easy to get hold of |

There will be no differance between a K-Tec and other brands other than the exhaust note. Some are louder and others are softer however they all give the same sort of performance because they all get rid of the middle boxes of the exhaust, thus allowing the exhaust gasses to exit more freely. this is why they are called straight through systems.
You can also get a cat de-cat pipe which will free up the gasses even more but if your car is newer than a J reg then you will have to put the cat back on to pass the MOT.
At the end of the day mate, most sports exhausts are about the same. You can pay the earth for new or see if there is a cheaper option.
If your hearts set on new then get new. |

Cheers lad. Yeah it's the noise I'm most worried about, but I don't expect anyone to be able to predict the sound of the k-tec one just by lookin at it lol. Just don't wanna sound like a boy racer twat with a 12" exhaust on the back y'know. Everyone'll be like here he comes. lol |

the best bet if you just want the look and not the loud exhaust note is to get a replacement back box.
This will give you a smart tail pipe but because you keep the middle boxes the exhaust note will be alot quieter. |

Ahh that makes sense yeah. The reason I'm asking about a new exhaust tho, is that mine is blowing and I think it's on it's way out, and I was under the impression that getting a stainless system would be cheaper and a better option than the standard Renault system that I've got now? I don't just want it for the look or anything. Just I think I am gonna be needing an exhaust soon so have been lookin around. |

Dont know about the K-Tec exhaust
i run a magnex stainless steel backbox and any day now my nice new shiny decat pipe should arrive which is also stainless steel.
Looking for a decent exhaust manifold now and then will prolly get the rest of the system custom built |

Cheaper....No but it's definatly better. When it comes down to is the only cheap s/s exhaust is a second hand one. Obviously that's because there is fuck all value on a second hand exhaust. you shouldn't pay anymore than £50 for one and because of the lifetime warenty of the exhaust you should never have to buy one again. However that is only going to cover the s/s exhaust so downpipes ect are a different matter.
I'm running a full cat back Magnex with 3" round tailpipe.
To be honest Magnex have got to be the quietest performance exhaust I've heard as it doesn't sound much louder than the standard one. But you don't half notice the differance having a straight through system on your car. |
